EMME is a contemporary modern dance company founded by movement artists, Emily Fifer and Meagan Shapiro. Rooted in the creative-process, EMME creates choreographed and improvised work which investigates how the vocabulary of the moving body can surprise, transform, confuse and delight both artists and audiences.
Emily Fifer is a dance artist and arts administrator based in Carbondale, CO. She has been dancing and choreographing with CoMotion Dance Company since 2016 and is currently the Managing Director. She has a Master of Fine Arts in Modern Dance from the University of Utah and is a certified movement analyst and yoga instructor.

Emily has studied contact improvisation extensively, and loves floor work, release technique and Afro-Brazilian dance. She has danced professionally in Denver, Philadelphia, Salt Lake City and Missoula.
Meagan Shapiro is a dance artist, choreographer and sound designer based in Carbondale, CO. She was a CoMotion Dance Company member from 2015 - 23, and Managing Director for the company from 2018 - 20. She has a Bachelors in Modern Dance and Creative Writing from Middlebury College and a Masters in Education from UNC.

Meagan has danced professionally in New York City, New England, and Boulder, has been the director of choreography for the Carbondale Arts Fashion Show since 2019, and teaches contemporary technique and compositional improvisation for Dance Initiative, and throughout the valley.
